we've got two completely different kids. elliot is really mellow and seems to be content all of the time. sebastian is super fiesty, very spirited, and needs stimulation. but both boys are giving us some trouble with sleep the past few days. sebastian loves to wake up at 4 am (only to become super crabby by 10:30 am). and elliot loves to wake up at night...simply to wake up? like at 11, then at 1, then at 4, then at 7 am. not only that, but elliot really prefers me at night, so if Curt wanted to help me out, he wouldn't be able to because elliot would cry until I came to the rescue. so we are trying to figure out why Sebastian will probably never sleep until 7 am. and trying to determine if Elliot is waking up at night mostly for comfort, or if in fact he really is hungry and needs those calories.
in more happy news...we got an early christmas miracle this morning at 8 am at an appointment with an allergist for Elliot. we've been really concerned about his rough skin along his cheeks. i was thinking it was a dairy allergy, but after the test we now know he is not allergic to dairy. I am totally relieved. however, we went into the apppointment a bit stressed because we JUST found out that Elliot was never added to our insurance. so our amazing doctor must have looked at us and thought, "whoa, here are two hard working parents who are totally sleep deprived and stressed out, they do have health insurance, but due to the red tape with health insurance companies and getting paper work filed their son was accidently dropped from their coverage...so I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and just give them the simple scratch test so that this overly stressed mother can get an answer so that she can proceed. plus they look like they would be really grateful for my kind gesture and we will get paid once the insurance fiasco gets figured out." not only that, but she gave us a plan for elliot to get through his mild eczema, what he has, with some hydrocortizone cream and then Vanicream (which we already have) to keep his cheeks moisturized. I'll stop there and thank Jesus for giving us this huge blessing through our amazing doctor we met this morning.
